T-Rex Launches 2 NEW Tonebug Pedals: Phaser and Chorus/Flanger

August 13 th, 2010 – T-Rex Engineering, the Danish guitar effects pedal manufacturer, introduces the fourth and fifth members of its incredibly popular Tonebug family of pedals: the Tonebug Phaser and the Tonebug Chorus/Flanger . The two pedals join their existing Tonebug Overdrive, Reverb and Distortion siblings.

Tonebug Phaser

The Tonebug Phaser gives you everything you need for a gorgeous phased sound using a MODE switch, and two simple controls: RATE and DEPTH. Choose Modern Mode for a crisp, thick-sounding phase, and Vintage Mode for that classic analog vibe. Dial in great sounding tones from a deep, slow rotation to a  light, watery shimmer.

Tonebug Chorus/Flanger

The Tonebug Chorus/Flanger pedal offers a richly textured chorus sound that will add a whole new dimension to your playing – all via two perfectly simple controls: RATE and DEPTH. The complex, multi-layered shimmer has become a must-have component of any electric or acoustic guitarist’s sonic arsenal.

In addition to the chorus effect, this pedal also includes a great sounding flanger mode, for that weird “whooshing” jet-plane sound… an extra twist that your audiences won’t forget.

The T-Rex Tonebug series

The Tonebug Series is a growing line of T-Rex pedals built under a common philosophy: offer classic T-Rex tone found in our high-end pedals with intuitive, uncomplicated controls - all at a price that any guitarist can afford.

T-Rex is scheduled to begin shipping the Tonebug Phaser and Chorus/Flanger in September 2010.

MSRP of both pedals: $199.

Hiscox Cases Appoints Musiquip as USA Distributor

June 7, 2010 – Musiquip Inc, a rapidly-growing distribution and marketing company serving the American MI market, is thrilled to have been appointed the new exclusive U.S. distributor for Hiscox Cases.

Established in 1985, Hiscox Cases Ltd. is the brainchild of Brynn Hiscox. A professional guitar maker, Brynn's customers demanded cases that offered unsurpassed protection but weighed less than other high-end cases available. He drew on an engineering background to design a lightweight case that stood up to his own – and his customers’ – most exacting requirements.

Hiscox Cases, which are today sold in over 20 countries worldwide, are constructed of a leather textured high impact ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadeine Styrene) hard plastic outer shell, bonded directly to an inner molding made from a unique blend of high tech cellular foam. This semi-rigid inner molding is soft enough to cushion the most delicate of instruments, yet firm enough to provide an overall structural rigidity unmatched by any other case in the Hiscox’s price range.

The brand offers cases for a wide variety of instruments, including numerous acoustic and electric guitar models, as well as alto and tenor saxophone, tenor horn, baritone, euphonium, violin, viola, and cello.

“Musicians face a unique set of challenges when it comes to travelling.   Durable, lightweight, dependable protection for your instrument is essential. Hiscox cases are recognized worldwide for providing the perfect solution for almost any instrument.” says John Kelley, Musiquip’s General Manager. “Hiscox is an excellent fit for the Musiquip family along side our other premium brands, and we’re very much looking forward to developing this line in the United States.”

T-Rex Engineering Upgrades Room-Mate Tube Reverb Pedal

May 7th, 2010 – T-Rex Engineering, the Danish guitar effects pedal manufacturer, presents the next generation of their successful Room-Mate Reverb Pedal. The “new & improved” Room-Mate offers the same rich, tubey warmth as the first Room-Mate, but features enhancements based largely on user feedback.

Four Distinct Reverb Types

The new Room-Mate offers the same phenomenal-sounding Room, Hall and LFO modes that its long-time fans have come to know. However, T-Rex has added a completely revamped Spring mode. When the decay is set low in Spring mode, Room-Mate emulates a short-spring reverb. Turn the decay up, and you get a killer long-spring reverb that you just won’t hear anywhere else.

Other upgrades

T-Rex has added a decay knob, which allows the user to adjust the length of the reverb trail in all four modes. A new hi-cut knob cuts the high notes on the tail of the reverb, giving the tail a smooth sound for a great vintage vibe. Finally, a gain knob makes it possible to use the Room-Mate in an effects loop without overloading the pedal’s input stage.

T-Rex is scheduled to begin shipping the Room-Mate in June 2010.

MSRP $499.

AER Introduces Alpha Plus to North America

February 25 th, 2010 – Audio Electric Research, better known as AER and widely recognized as the industry’s premier acoustic amplifier manufacturer, has recently begun shipping the Alpha Plus in North America.

Based on the Alpha (the smallest and simplest acoustic amp in the AER range), the Alpha Plus incorporates a bigger cabinet and increases the power output from 40W to 50W, providing greater volume and extended headroom. All the while, the Alpha Plus provides the warmth, clarity, and natural tone for which AER is renown, and preserves much of the original Alpha’s beloved simplicity: a single 8” twin-cone speaker, a single channel, three band tone controls, and digital reverb effect. The Alpha Plus’ two inputs, when used simultaneously for guitar and vocals, transform the amp into a compact, superbly-sounding PA which can easily handle small club gigs.

The Alpha Plus’ back panel houses the footswitch, effects send and return, DI output, line output and headphone output sockets.

An ideal solution for acoustic instrumentalists who don’t require the higher output power and feature-rich complexity of its bigger AER siblings, the Alpha Plus adds another attractive option at the lower end of AER’s price range.

Musiquip, the USA distributor of AER, has already begun shipping the Alpha Plus to authorized AER dealers. Retail price is at $1129.

About AER: Hand-built in Recklinghausen, Germany, AER amps are widely considered to be the hallmark of acoustic amplification. Since 1992, the company has used high-quality components, sophisticated circuit technology, and precision craftsmanship to convert their designs into unrivaled solutions for acoustic, electric and bass instruments.

T-Rex Engineering Launches Tonebug Distortion Pedal

February 8 th, 2010 – T-Rex Engineering, the Danish guitar effects pedal manufacturer, introduces a third member to its popular Tonebug family of pedals: the Tonebug Distortion. The Distortion pedal joins its existing Tonebugs Overdrive and Reverb siblings.

A Distorted Past
When guitarists in the early ’60s started experimenting with distortion, it took rock music to a whole new level. The earliest attempts were crude, with some guitarists even slitting their amp speakers to get a “fuzzy” sound. Amplifier makers eventually figured out how to “overdrive” a main amp with a hot signal from a preamp to bring true distortion to the world of rock.

Simply Classic
Tonebug Distortion is a phenomenal-sounding pedal that delivers gobs of rich, tubey-sounding distortion you’ll recognize instantly as a fundamental ingredient of classic guitar rock. Best of all, it couldn’t be easier to use. A simple Gain knob lets you choose how dirty you want to get, while a Tone knob lets you tune the timbre of your distortion – from a muted bluesy crunch to a searing wail that’ll slice through anything in its way.

T-Rex Tone
Like our Tonebug Reverb and Overdrive pedals, Tonebug Distortion delivers the same legendary T-Rex tone that’s made our top-end products a fixture on the pedal boards of guitar greats around the world (see our website for recent T-Rex sightings). That, combined with cool retro design and rugged construction, makes Tonebug Distortion a pedal you just won’t want to play without.

T-Rex is scheduled to begin shipping the Tonebug Distortion in March 2010.
